Task 1 : A)Brainstorm with students about heroes.

               -The signification of an hero.

               -Who is their hero(es).

               -The reasons why we have heroes.

                 (possible answers: because the person have done something

                  great, because the person is creative, generous, hard-working,

                  curious, funny, disciplined, courageous, patient, caring, athletic,

                  adventurous, inventive.)

               -Give an example of your(teacher) hero.

 

               B)Read in student’s book 2 A new Twist to English pp.: 50-51

           

               C)Ask students to answer orally some questions.(answers are in bold)

                -What is the name of the heroine? Sadako Sasaki

                -Where does she live? Japan

                -How old would she be today? 61

                -Name some interesting facts about her. When she was 2 a bomb was

                 dropped on her city, She suffered from leukemia, she completed 644

                 paper cranes, she died on October 25 1955, a monument was built to

                 honour her.

                 -Name some of her qualities. Strong, courageous, athletic

 

 

 

Task 2 :  A)Inform students about the final task on hero. (PowerPoint presentation)

                -Ask them to find one hero.

                -Ask them to identify the resources they will need in order to find information.

                -Tell students to write those information on sheet of paper and to bring that

                  sheet for their next class.

 

    B)Read in student’s book 2 A new Twist to English pp.: 48-49

                    Do activity in the activity book 2 A new Twist to English pp.:81

               

                C)Tell students they will start working on their final task next class.

 

 

Task 3 :  A)Tell students we are going to the computer lab in order to find information

                    on their hero for their final task.

                -Provide a list of interesting web site (listed below)

                -www.biography.com               -www.google.com

                -www.biography-center.com            -www.yahoo.com

                -www.infoplease.com/people.html

           

                B)Students find some information to answer those specific characteristics.

                    (This is what they are asked to do in their final project.)

                -Name of the hero.

                -Age.

                -Place where is born.

                -Place of residence.

                -Interesting facts. (3)

                -Qualities.

                -Why they admire that person.

              

    C)Show student an example of a power point presentation.

     -Tell students they have to do a plan of their power point presentation for

       next class.

 

Task 4:   A)Show students how to use PowerPoint.

 

                B)Students try to use PowerPoint.

                 -Teacher goes around to answer some questions and to give some tricks.

               

    C)Answer students’ questions about PowerPoint.

 

 

Final task: -Students work on their PowerPoint presentation.

                   -Teacher assists students.

                   -See an example of a PowerPoint presentation.
